On March 16, 1965 Paul Van Doren and James Van Doren opened up their first store where they manufactures their first pair of shoes. The first day they sold 12 pairs. The shoe they produced is to day the legendary sneaker Authentic. During the seventies Vans grew fast, especially by help from skaters and BMX riders which fast adapted the new form of shoe design. The shoe was perfect for action sports and Vans also designed shoes with professional skaters as Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta. Since then Vans shoes has grown and is today an icon among sneakers. The timeless design has contributed that classics as Authentic, Sk8-Hi, Era, Old Skool and Half Cap sells the best today. Today Vans has one the biggest teams, which includes skateboarding, surfing, BMX and snowboarding.
